Seren Bach Glamping Pod

Tucked away in the upper corner of the field, Seren Bach (meaning Little Star in Welsh) is the new addition to the glamping pods at Argoed Barns. This 7m diameter luxury camping pod still has a huge 5m wide window to capitalise on the stunning views and light yet has the added benefit of a viewing window in the apex through which to admire the night sky for which the Brecon Beacons has justly earned its Dark Sky Reserve status. As tastefully and thoughtfully designed as Seren Mawr, this is another perfect dog friendly hideaway for a special romantic break or for those needing a digital detox.

Like its sister, it is furnished with a brass bed for a sumptuous night’s sleep in crisp cotton bedding on a goose down topper. A wood burning stove complements the cosy atmosphere with a sofa to cwtch up on and a dining area to enjoy the meals created in the well-equipped kitchen. In Seren Bach you don’t even have to pop outside to do the washing up as the sink has been incorporated within the kitchen area. The insulated floor is scattered with rugs and animal skins to enhance that decadent feel.

Lighting is provided by solar powered lanterns (feel free to bring your own candles too), creating a romantic mood. Whilst supper is cooking, you may wish to peruse a book, play a board or card game; perhaps pore over a map and guide books to plan your itinerary for the next day. There’s even a wind-up radio so that you can listen to the weather forecast or your favourite program.

Cooking utensils, pans, crockery, cutlery and glassware are all provided along with a large cool box complete with (replenishable) ice packs and a wine cooler.  The kitchen area comprises a double ring gas hob and kitchen sink from which you can refill your bottles with water from our own bore hole (it’s on a par with the best branded water and tastes delicious).  We recommend that you rein in your culinary ambitions to fare that can be cooked on two gas rings.  If you’re foodies, you’ll be in for a treat as, just a mile away along country lanes is the Felinfach Griffin, a multi-award winning gastro pub with fabulous food and an atmosphere to match.

Simple washroom facilities (Ty Bach) are provided a few feet away, including a very smart self-composting loo, wash basin and gas powered shower using water from our own bore hole; there is simply nothing taken from The Grid at Seren Bach.   In addition to towels and luxury Myddfai toiletries, bathrobes and clogs are provided to make the 5m trip back to the Dome after a nice hot shower.  An Ordnance Survey map centralised on the local area is mounted on the wall beside the loo so you can plan your next adventure.

When you’ve been out all day, whether it be walking in the hills, cycling along the many cycle routes, visiting local attractions or perusing the book shops in Hay, it’s lovely to come back and unwind in the wooden luv-tub whilst sharing a drink.  After supper you can stroll outside to relax in the swing seat and toast marshmallows on the open firebowl whilst watching the sun set behind the hills as it gives way to the magical night sky unfolding in front of you. With no light or noise pollution this is a heavenly way to end the day.

Forget:

  • Work
  • Plastic water bottles (please bring refillable bottles for your day trips).

Don’t Forget:

  • Tea Lights/Candles
  • Matches
  • Food and Torches
  • Additional Firewood is available for £5/bag

The most perfect camping weekend This place and Lucie is just incredible. The hospitality is some of the best I've ever experienced- Lucie goes above and beyond to make your stay as special and as memorable as possible. We hired the campsite out and Lucie put a massive gazebo up for us, had many picnic benches available, decorated the trees with lights, offered to get us a drinks bar in, suggested kayaking companies to use and where we could get takeaways. She gifted us some fantastic coffee roasted by a local business. There's also the brilliant small touches, like lovely messages written on the toilet mirrors and key information on blackboards. The facilities are immaculate and hygiene and cleaning was taken very seriously. Also, the views from the campsite are incredible! Lucie, her family and all the animals are so friendly and welcoming. We had the most amazing stay and hope to return every year!

A quiet and peaceful campsite We were lucky enough to visit Seren Bach at the start of summer and had the whole place to ourselves. Lucy is very welcoming and the facilities are immaculately clean. My son loved being greeted by the ducks and chickens each day and the views from the campsite are stunning. Seren Back is perfectly located for exploring Hay-on-Wye and the surrounding area. The site is for tents only, which was just what we were looking for.

A lovely quiet, very clean site with friendly, helpful owners. Very pleased to find this site for the start of a canoe trip down the River Wye. Excellent position for either starting at Glasbury or Hay-On-Wye. It would also be an ideal base for a walking or cycling base.

Beautiful small campsite for a perfect quiet getaway The campsite is perfect for camping with a tent, amazing views, and the owners are very nice people who helped me to orientate in the surrounding area for some good hikes and just for a chat. Hay-on-wye is just nearby and I hiked there through fields and allong the river, a very nice walk! And many other things to do in the surrounding area, I would love to come back and bring my bike!

Great find! Happened across this place while out on a trail with the dog. We'd run out of water and the owner helped us out and showed us around. Quiet beautiful field and great location for Hay or walking. To be honest I'm gutted I chose to camp in Lower Porthamel, wish I'd found this one when I was searching instead!
